Running from Love

Get it here
Been playing this a lot recently, it's from 2009. The info on the CD is lifted from Blaks......
A smooth bit of funky jazz from 76 Degrees West -- a cool combo with a nice sort of bounce in their groove! The group are clearly inspired by 70s funk, but take things towards a more contemporary vein -- often using some tight horn lines in the lead, and snapping rhythms at the bottom -- sometimes in an instrumental groove, sometimes with guest vocals from singers that include Angela Johnson and Gordon Chambers. The band is based out of the Washington DC area and has played behind numerous national acts such as the Grammy Award Winner Gordon Chambers, Sax Man Jimmy Sommers, Eric Darius, Allyson Williams, and Angela Johnson. They call their style "Nu Jazz-Funk" which has been lighting up stages across the U.S. since 2001, swiftly evolving into one of the funkiest sounding groups to hit the music industry. They have performed at various festivals and clubs around the country with other artists such as: Ledisi, Maysa, Grammy Nominee Victor Duplaix, Lynne Fiddmont, Marcus Johnson, Rahsaan Patterson, Ollie Woodson (of The Temptations), Rick Braun, Michael Langton, and more. The bands name was inspired by the longitude for the East Coast in the Western Hemisphere which is 76°W covering the Washington DC metropolitan area. They are currently working on a hot debut album set to be released in the fall of 2008. Their version of "School Boy Crush" is sure to get your party started right. You'll enjoy instrumental Funky Jazz music with saxophone highlights wrapped in a East Coast Swing.* Props 2 Lasse
